HISTORICAL  BACKGROUND OF ST.CLARE MONTESSORI SCHOOL AND ST.CLARE SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL

     St. Clare Montessori School was conceptualized and established by Dr. Remedios G. Aquino, Education Supervisor of DepEd, Rizal from 1984-2002 and OIC-Asst. Schools Division Superintendent/Education Supervisor-Science of the Department of Education, Antipolo City from 2003 to November 2008 and her daughter, Mrs. Evangeline A. Revilla, a former teacher of Assumption School, Antipolo City in response to the educational thrust of providing quality education.
     The school’s Board of Directors was organized and its first meeting was held on July 11, 1995, presided by the Chairman and President, retired Capt. Edilberto G. Aquino. The school was duly registered at the Securities and Exchange Commission on September 27, 1995. All the requirements needed to operate the school were submitted to the DECS, Region IV and the permit to operate was issued on October 1995. The first building was constructed and all the facilities and instructional materials were prepared before its opening.
     The school was officially opened on June 1996 with courses on Pre-School and Grade 1. It had an enrolment of 150 on its first year of operation with four teachers under the Directress, Mrs. Evangeline A. Revilla. The school used the Montessori Method as well as the eclectic approach to meet the needs of the students. From then on, the enrolment has been increasing from year to year. The school complied with all the legal requirements so the Government Recognition for Pre-School and Elementary Course was approved and granted on November 3, 1997 with Numbers K-00006, 5-1998 and E-008, SY-1998.
     To continue to provide quality and enriching experiences to the students, the curriculum for pre and grade schools was enriched to meet the needs of the students and to cope with fast advances in technology. Likewise, varied in-service trainings and seminar-workshops on the management and supervision of instruction using the Montessori Method were attended by the administrative staff and teaching personnel.
     To cope with the growth of student populace, an additional building was constructed on May 2000. The school is equipped with computers, audiovisual aids, Montessori materials, Science equipments and apparatuses and library materials to meet the thrust of teaching and learning through information and communication technology. The school focuses on three A’s: Attitude, Action and Achievement.
     To continue to provide quality education and produce functional learners not only in the pre-school and elementary levels, St. Clare Science High School with Special Science Curriculum was opened in June 2003 with Government Permit 005, s. 2003. Its vision shall be the center of excellence in Science and Technology and its mission is to provide gifted students with special training in Science and Mathematics. Moreover, it aims to develop globally competitive citizenry motivated by love of GOD, country and concern for the nation.
     SCSHS is a duly recognized Science High School with Recognition No. 001, S.2005. To further provide basic secondary education to elementary graduates of St. Clare Montessori School and other public and private elementary schools, SCSHS opened also the General Secondary Education under the Basic Secondary Education Curriculum on June 2006 approved by the Department of Education, Region IV-A.
From the time of its operation in 1996 and up to the present, the school is soaring to excellence in Science, Mathematics and English. Potential pupils and students have won in Division, Regional and National Competitions in Science, Mathematics, English and other educational activities that brought honors not only to the school but also to DepEd Antipolo City and Region IV-A as well.

The school aims on three As ATTITUDE, ACHIEVEMENT AND ACTION. It also wants the child to have a full and harmonious development in every direction, mentally physically, socially and spiritually. A child who is responsible, independent, well-disciplined and has concern not only for himself but for others and his environment. Thus, helping the child become…. to be a better man of tomorrow.
